Psalm 1 is a beautiful reminder of the blessings in store for the man (and woman) who delights in the unbreakable “Law of the LORD.”
- He is like a nourished tree. v3a
- He is like a fruitful tree. v3b
- He is like an enduring tree. v3c
- He will prosper. v3d
- He will not be driven away. v4
- He will be counted with the righteous. v5
- He will not perish. v6
These blessings are reserved for the man who delights in the Law of the LORD.
Psalm 2 is a warning to the Kings and Rulers of the earth who despise the Law of the LORD and counsel together devising their own laws.
- The LORD laughs at their plans. v4a
- The LORD righteously ridicules their ways. v4b
- The LORD will speak with wrath. v5a
- The LORD will terrify them. v5b
- The LORD has decreed Jesus as King of Kings. v7-8
- The LORD advises these Kings and Rulers v10-12
- Be wise. v10
- Be warned. v10
- Serve the LORD v11a
- Rejoice v11b
- Kiss the Son v12 – Surrender and give allegiance to Jesus otherwise, you will perish.
This warning is for all those who remain steadfast and reject the Law of the Lord and the rightful King of the earth.
Just as Psalm 1 opens with Blessed in the man Psalm 2 ends with Blessed are ALL who take refuge in Him. There are innumerable blessings for the man who delights in the Law of the Lord and anyone ruler or outcast who takes refuge in Jesus.
